About Us

This world is extraordinary. Not in spite of its complexity, but because of it. Each cultural tradition carries its own logic, its own aesthetic grammar, its own way of organizing meaning and memory.

The systems that govern access to culture have historically centered certain geographies and practices while overlooking others. This centering is not neutral; it is the product of constructed hierarchies. And over time, hierarchies become indistinguishable from the perception of value.

Fatima Bocoum founded Culture Makes on the conviction that each cultural sphere is a living system — a set of beliefs and ways of being — that its members actively sustain and embody, whole and abundant.

This constitutes the epistemic foundation of our work.

We operate across editorial and curatorial forms: texts, selections, and encounters that open ways of seeing and inhabiting the world. We bring into relation artistic practices, ideas, and contexts that might otherwise remain distant, allowing them to coexist without hierarchy or prescription.

In this proximity, a shift occurs. New possibilities emerge. The world expands, and its edges soften into continuing constellations between forms, histories, and sensibilities, producing new conditions of understanding.
